The Model MSM Initial-Pinch Rolls are also called Slip Rolls.
Their design has gained worldwide acceptance and, although used for bending lighter sheet materials, they are built for durability and efficiency while still being easy to operate and low in cost. Strong cast-iron frames are used on all sizes for rigidity and stability. The roll shafts are journaled in long-life bronze bearings. The upper and lower rolls are driven by a brake-motor through a heavily proportioned gear assembly, producing a single rolling speed and effecting prompt stopping of the rotation of the rolls.
The lower front roll, which is used for clamping the work-piece, and the rear roll, which is used for setting the bending radius, are each adjusted by a single handwheel. Both handwheels are conveniently located for ease of operation. The use of a single handwheel for each adjustment avoids the operator's having to move from one end of the machine to the other to adjust each roll. The rear roll can be readily tilted to facilitate the cone bending procedure. A secure locking device keeps the upper roll in proper position during rolling and is easily released to allow the roll to be swung out for removal of the rolled cylinder. A moveable foot control on a trailing lead adds to convenience and ease of operation by allowing the operator to position himself most advantageously. The rolls are grooved for three sizes of round bar. The amchine needs only to be anchored and connected to the power supply and is ready to operate.
